Antigua, West Indies
The Mill Reef Fitness Center was designed to support the existing Mill Reef Club in Antigua originally built in the 1940's with a mid-century modernist aesthetic.
The property was a very steeply sloping site with indigenous Antiguan forest around it. The design is a series of tiers that step up the site in gradual lifts. The existing stone was quarried and used for all the retaining walls and paving. Plant material was brought in and placed in large planting areas to provide shade and reestablish the Antiguan forest. Fountains and lighting add to the resort like ambiance of the club.
